8. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

Default Retention Period

We retain information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or until we receive a deletion request, unless otherwise required by law. Data retention periods:

  • Voice recordings and transcriptions: stored until account deletion or for a maximum 15 years, whichever occurs first
  • Progress data: stored until account deletion
  • Device-specific data: retained locally until app uninstallation
  • Payment data: retained for a period of 5 years to support fraud prevention efforts

 

Data Processing After Collection

When we no longer need personal information:

  • If immediate deletion is impossible (e.g., backup archives), data is:

  • Isolated from further processing
  • Deleted when technically possible

 

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Data Deletion process

You can delete personal data via the Settings menu. The data deletion process via the Settings menu is conducted in two stages:

  • Account Data Deletion:
  • For users who have not created accounts: All data related to the App installation will be deleted. No additional verification required.
  • For users who have created accounts: All data related to App installations on devices related to the account will be deleted. No additional verification required.
  • Email Data Deletion:
  • For users who provide their emails to receive reports, newsletters and other materials: A verification email will be sent to initiate the deletion of email-specific data. After email confirmation all data associated with the email address is deleted.

 

You can request data deletion also via Support chat. Such requests resolve by redirecting parents to the in-App Settings menu.

 

You can request data deletion by email:

  • Email Data Deletion: For users who have provided their email addresses to receive reports, newsletters, and other materials — all data associated with the email address will be deleted.
  • Account Data Deletion: Depending on whether the user has created a parent account and the authorization method used, additional verification information may be required. This information can be accessed in the application settings menu. Once the additional information is received, all data associated with the account will be deleted.

 

Some data may be stored locally on your device (local on-device data) and we do not collect or have access to it. You can delete such data in the in-App or device settings menu.

 

For information stored on your device, you can also manage your cookies preferences via your browser and/or device settings. The majority of Internet browsers will enable you to delete cookies from your computer’s hard drive, refuse acceptance of cookies and/or receive a specific warning before cookies are stored within your system.

 

9. HOW WE SHARE YOUR DATA

AI Buddy does not sell personal information for money. Personal information may be shared as described below, under appropriate safeguards.

Service providers

AI Buddy shares information with companies that process data under AI Buddy’s instructions, including:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers.
  • Authentication providers.
  • Payment processors and subscription management services.
  • Customer support and ticketing tools.
  • Email, push notification, and other communication tools.
  • Analytics, diagnostics, and crash-reporting providers.

 

These companies are allowed to use personal information only to provide services to AI Buddy and must protect it under applicable contracts.

Analytics and attribution partners

AI Buddy uses analytics, measurement, and attribution providers to help understand app performance and campaign effectiveness. These partners may receive device and usage data, including advertising identifiers where available and permitted, to:

  • Measure installs and re-engagement.
  • Attribute app events to marketing campaigns.
  • Analyze aggregated performance.
  • Help detect fraud and misuse.

 

On iOS, using IDFA for tracking requires permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If permission is denied, IDFA is not used for tracking purposes.

Advertising and marketing partners

AI Buddy may share limited information with partners that help deliver or measure marketing communications and campaigns, such as platforms used to run ads or send messages. This may include hashed identifiers, device data, or engagement signals, consistent with user settings and applicable law.

Legal and safety disclosures

AI Buddy may access, preserve, and disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law or legal process.
  • Respond to lawful requests from public and government authorities.
  • Enforce terms and policies.
  • Protect rights, property, or safety, or the rights, property, or safety of others.

Business Transfers

  • Data deletion is initiated upon request. Some data may be temporarily retained in backups before permanent deletion.
